ICELAND tour PART5 Dyrholaey, Vik carwash, Reykjavik 04-07-2014

Day 5, time is passing by quickly, and so were we. Allready heading to VIK for some awesome black beach shore action. Men, those rocks are pritty awesome i can tell you that. We were there like way before any tourist (yes, as of this location, tourist population increases as its better accessable by busses). We were out on 4th of july like 6am, had a quick breakfast at 6:50 or so and went straight to the Dyrholaey, a nature reserve island/region sort a say. You can go way up by car on the top hill so that you can walk al the way over the big rocks bridging over the water. There is lighthouse tower there as well. From there you can see the beautifull shoreline on the right, but also the left side with the crazy Troll rocks (the pointy rocks in the distance near Vik). We decided to walk al the way down towards the left black shore to take more photo's and video :)
After some good fun near the water, it was time to go to direction Reykjavik. But not before washing our car, which was dirty after the 4x4 stuff to Klifbrekkufossar. In Vik we bought al the food possible to take with us, and we continued towards Seljalandsfoss. Seljalandsfoss is quite a interesting waterfall, as you can walk behind it, but you need to be abit creative if you dont want to have tourists in your shots (either go way early or really late, both were not possible for us). However, i really like the composition of it as it has a jungle look to it. Finally we toured al the way to Reykjavik. In Reykjavik we rented a room in a guesthouse, it was abit cheaper, but more importantly, it has a kitchen :)
After paying the rent to our landlord (Math teacher, funny guy), and fixing the internet in our room, we went shopping at the Kringlan shopping centre. Wow, huge! Well, modern, and  people from our age (so far we only met some weird hitchhikers mostly arround our age, serious discovery channel or phototography guys or just abit older folks in big landcrusers). We had some pre-dinner at a Indian vegi restaurant and bought the rest to make dinner for today and tomorrow at home. Time to sleep, because tomorrow is the Golden Circle..final day of Iceland

Iceland tour 2014: Day 4 Skaftafell, Glacier walking, Geopark and tel sell 03-07-2014

Oohw Yeah, today we are going to explore a very big big biggg glacier and we discovered some weird looking lavafields. We had to drive about 1hour from our Hotel to Skaftafel, where our glacier hike began arround 8:30. We hiked/climb our way up to make some sweet photo's and video's. In total it took us about 6 hours, without any rest or so, so quite in for some lunch when we got back :) In the afternoon we had no plans, but a long drive was ahead of us to Vik. Our dinner was to be expected in one of the many villages on our path, but most of them consisted of N1 fastood or reallly overpriced restaurants, so we kept our strength and drove all the way to our hotel in Vik as all the supermarkets were closed as well (after 17:00/18:00). So lucky our hotel was big enough to have its own restaurent :) On the way we discovered some cool vantage points for making pics, and lavafieds covered in a thick layer of moss. ICELAND TOUR 2014: Day 3, Bakkagerdi, Offroading, bird spotting, Hofn 02-07-2014

Hi All. Here we have our day 3 of the ICELAND tour 2014. We drive all the way from Egilstadir to Hofn and go on some heavy 4x4 offroading stuff. Great coastal routes on the way, trully a magical ride. So happy that the restaurants close at 22:00, as 400km of driving and 3 hours of exploring really makes you hundry haha. The pictures and pro video we took look sooo amazing. Oohw, yes, Hotel Glacier really stands out for its name: cold :D

Iceland Tour 2014: Day 2: Husavik, Wales, Waterfalls 01-07-2014

Day number 2 in Iceland. We've already seen so much on Day 1, and much more to be expected. We took of early from Hotel Natur in Akureyri, heading to Husavik. The first time we would see the coastal regions of Iceland. What a view i must say. Husavik City lies within a small bay, hosting all sorts of ships. Our goal here was to see some wales! I never saw these creatures with my own eyes, in the wild, so we both were really hoping we could see at least one. We took a boat and went for open water. We were fortunate, as we saw multiple wales coming up and diving back again. I think some of them were quite interested in the boat as they were circling around, diving and coming back up. We managed to take some really good closeup photo's and video as well :)
This was only in the morning! After buying out the Supermarket for a big lunch and supplies we headed towards Jökulsárgljúfur, Vatnajökull national park. It contains two beautifull waterfalls: Selfoss and Dettifoss. After spending the whole afternoon and part of the early evening walking and making great pics/vids we drove further to Egilstadir. Again, we arrived quite late, but most of the restaurants were still open. We had some great home made pizza at a place called "Salt". Check our VLOG video's go right into the action:

Iceland 2014 tour start

Hi All

I will be using this blog more extensively from now on :)

I begin with VLOGS of our iceland tour (29-06 till 08-07 2014). Me and John visited Iceland and we drove in a nice 4x4 all across Iceland starting up North. These personal vlogs will show you most of the places we visited. Besides this "personal phone cam", we took some pro photo and video gear with us as well. I will select 10 best photo's of each day and by the end of the VLOGS i will present one 10minute video of Iceland we shot with Nikon Dslrs and a Steadycam . We took that stuff really on rough terrain as well (glaciers, high up on volcanos), so i cannot wait to start working on it:)
Stay tuned.
